Conga Line at the Summit?!

Hey gang! This is my first time to write on the FP4H blog. I’m Lisa, the FP4H Events and Special Projects Manager. We are full-speed ahead preparing for the First Place 4 Health Leadership Summit in July. I’m so excited about all we have planned, I wanted to write and tell you guys about it. We had a planning meeting last Saturday with leaders from around the Houston area and boy is it going to be great! Conga line and all! Okay maybe we won’t have a conga line -- although that was suggested and I was all for it… :). We will have seminars like Leading on a Shoestring, The Ten Things Every Leader Should Know, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Live It Food Plan and so much more. We added lots of Q&A time with the staff during our coffee and dessert bar on Saturday afternoon, too! You’ll have plenty of time to get all your questions answered and wait until you try some of these desserts. They are yummy. We’ll give you the recipes to take home with you.

Our theme this year is Leading Out Loud. The theme is based around the idea that as FP4H leaders we should lead with confidence and kick it up a notch! We have a message all the world needs to hear in the area of health and wellness so we should “Lead Loud!" It won’t just be an idea, we’ll have practical Lead Loud tips in our seminars and throughout the summit.

We’re also making some big changes to our website and they will debut during the summit. We’ll have one of the designers here to tell you all about it. There is just so much going on, I know you will want to be a part of it. Grab a couple of your class members and y’all head this way. We would love to see you!

276 and counting!

Time for an update! We now have 276 registered for the Leadership Summit from 31 states and Canada! God is so good! We are so excited around here - and very busy! If you are coming, know that we are praying for you and so anxious to have you here in only 9 days!

If you are unable to come, we have some exciting news! We will be recording the keynote speeches as well as our seminars and plan to make them available for download in the Tools for Leaders section of our website within 10-14 days of the Summit. We have heard the call from many of you who can't always make it down for this event and wish to still be informed and receive training. We hope this will be the answer!

Keep the comments coming...we love hearing from you!

First Place 4 Health Leadership Summit July 25-26, 2008

We are excited beyond words about our sixth annual First Place Leadership Summit. All of the new First Place 4 Health resources will be available at this event and we will give extensive training on how to use and teach the new materials. We have worked for over two years writing the new program and can’t wait for you to see it. I promise you are going to love what you see.

Becky Turner, who has been our MC for the last two years, will be our keynote speaker at the Summit this year. Becky has been meeting with me for an hour each week for the last six months, and the things she has taught me on how to plan my work and work my plan have impacted my life in a gigantic way.

As a result, I have asked Becky to teach a six-week course (in two days) covering all I have learned. Becky graciously accepted my invitation to teach our First Place leaders what she has taught me. Trust me; you will be forever grateful you came.

Steve Reynolds, pastor of Capital Baptist Church in Annandale, Virginia, will be with us to give his testimony of how he lost 110 pounds. Steve will also do a seminar on how to make First Place 4 Health a church-wide program. Steve’s church lost 2100 pounds in a four-month period.

We will have delicious, healthy meals, wonderful testimonies, great seminars, and spend Saturday afternoon and evening at our home on Galveston Bay. There is nothing as relaxing or beautiful as being with friends when the sun sets over the water. There will be boating and a ride on the “Triple Dare” if you are brave. We also have lots of chaise lounges if you are inclined to lounge, and an air-conditioned house if you want to stay inside and play games.

We are praying you can come be with us at this year’s Summit. Lasting friendships are made as we share together all that God has done and is doing in our lives.

We have almost 200 registered from 27 states!

See you there!
