"I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address." - tom hanks

if any of you have seen "You've Got Mail" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, you'll appreciate that quote. it's when Tom's character talks about how much he loves New York in the fall and how it makes him want to shop for school supplies! :)

i don't know about you, but we've definitely been getting ready for "school" around here! we have been super busy with our Fall orientation sessions this week. we had one on Sunday and one last night, and I'm excited to say we've had a bunch of new members join! it's such an exciting time with our new materials finally being out and ready for use! i hope that all of you reading have had a successful summer (if you started then) and/or are successfully gearing up for the Fall!

if you have questions about our program or about getting started, our website is the best place to visit. we'd send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if we could, but i think you'd prefer us answer you questions about the new food plan, orientation program, or any of the other new improvements we've made to First Place. on our website you can send us an email or post a question on our message boards. we want to help you have the best session possible, so please let us know if we can help!

  1. Erin, I have a man in my group who can't seem to grasp the concept of the bible study. He says it is to simplified, taking scripture out of context to an extent because it is short and doesn't go into detail. How do I handle this?

  2. I have one man in my class who is doing very well with the health part of the program and is losing alot of weight, but he does not like the bible study because it is short, does not cover more material and as he calls it, "choppy" and taking some of the verses out of context. I have been leading First Place for almost two years and have not run into this problem yet. How do I handle this?
